APRIL 22 2017 MATCH RESULTS

 

It turned out to be nearly as good as the forecast said it would, weather wise with light winds that picked up somewhat at just about the time the match was over. We had 19 shooters for this event, even though we kinda thought there’d be more due to the great weather forecast, so the winds weren’t a factor. This month we had, what i think, is our first score of 40 shot for record. It was a fun match and we were again done by lunchtime even though we all sort of stood around discussing what sort of changes we could/should make to this match starting with the MAY 2017 match. We did have three new shooters that shot in the unclassified “class” and they will shoot in our regular classes in the next match. We had two shooters with a score of 36 in Master-Magnified, for second place in Master class, but Doyal Andrews let Bill Heeter have second without actually having a shoot-off, claiming third place himself.

Thanks to Doyal Andrews for running the line part of the time so i could shoot and I thank everyone that helped out with end of match scorecard work and the set up and tear down!!

28 APR NOTE ADDED: We have had more discussion about adding a class to be higher scores than the current MASTER classification, likely to be called High Master put in place in about JUL or AUG of this year after we have gathered s little more results data for this year. The purpose is to keep the match fair to all and attempt to offer all shooters the opportunity to participate either to learn more about shooting and/or just have fun, while allowing those among us that have the experience and desire to compete to all accomplish our goals…to shoot and enjoy!! Some among us enjoy just shooting for the fun of it, while some enjoy the competition aspect! We will likely not change the score ranges very much for the SHARPSHOOTER and the MARKSMAN classifications except to lower by a few shots the dividing line between those two. And will, at the same time, will make the EXPERT classification top score AND bottom score a number or two lower (to be maybe something like 27 or 28 to 33 ), while Master classification becomes something like 34  to 37 and the HIGH Master classification will be 38-39-40. Shooting positions will likely NOT change from what we will be using in the MAY and JUNE matches. The new classifications (proposed) will likely be MARKSMAN 0 to 15, SHARPSHOOTER 16 to 27, EXPERT 28 to 33, MASTER 34 to 37, and HIGH MASTER 38, 39 & 40. We think that should thin the top class down a little and make it a challenge to shoot a score commensurate with your current classification, yet keep the goal of moving up in place for all shooters. THESE CHANGES ARE, SO FAR, ONLY “PROPOSED“, so I would like to have input from all  participants—— any and all comments and/or suggestions are NEEDED and WANTED for consideration before we implement these changes!
