Military Silhouette 2022-10-15

Congratulation to Russ H. for winning his first ever Mil-Sil match, besting nine other shooters and winning the shoot-off for first place.

Unlike other PVGC matches, Mil-Sil employs a handicapping scheme, so everyone has a sporting chance to place first, second, or third. Our “handicap” is having to shoot one or more stages offhand. This month, it applied to seven of our ten shooters. Notably, Joel M. and Jim K. had to shoot Chickens (110 yards), Pigs (175 yards), and Turkeys (421 yards) offhand.

Last month, Joel set a record by knocking over 9-of-10 Chickens offhand. This month, he set another record: 9-of-10 Pigs offhand! And even though he didn’t have to, Joel elected to shoot Rams (at 547 yards) offhand, taking three of them down.

Another thing that differentiates Mil-Sil matches from others is: shooting different rifles during the match. This month, Phil used four different rifles, one for each stage.

Our final match of 2022 is set for Saturday, November 19 (weather permitting; check the website beforehand).
