Four dedicated shooters participated in the July match, including one female Junior shooter, Stella, who competently shot a M1A.
The toughest environmental challenge wasn’t the high temperature; it was “No wind!” (Always a source of confusion to Nevada shooters!)
There was a notable “senior moment” when a shooter and his spotter had a prolong, back-and-forth disagreement about a shot result. The shooter maintained he hit the number one target because there were four left in the bank; the spotter said, “No, there are five standing.” Finally, the Match Director was asked to resolve their dispute. “I see four Rams standing, and five Turkeys standing.” “Oh,” said the shooter. (And the red tint that suddenly appeared on his face wasn’t from sunburn.)
Our next match will be Saturday, August 17. Be sure to arrive at the range by 7:30 A.M. to help with target setup.
