A club meeting will be held on Thursday July 25th at 6 PM at the Raley’s ONE Market in south Reno on Wedge Parkway. 18144 Wedge Parkway, Reno, NV 89511 . The meeting room is in the rear right side of the store past the deli.
The Washoe County Shooting Facility is now open 7 days a week, 8 AM to 4 PM. The public range is a much better range since Nevada Firearms Academy and Range became the operator. Event Spotlight – Long Range Steel Practice – Silhouette Range – First Saturday of the month – June-October
Make sure you are registered and present by 7:55AM for the Safety Brief, gates will open at 7:30AM. Any shooters not present for the safety brief cannot participate in the practice. Please see further information below and observe the 15 MPH speed limit.
We will have a number of Steel target practice days this year. These practices aren’t geared toward any particular competition. The folks who want to practice at the same ranges as the Long Range Varmint, the Military Silhouette, and the Precision Rifle Matches will get some time on steel targets at those ranges.Safety notes: Anyone who shows up early, please do not bring out your rifles until the RSO is present and says we can do so. We will be limiting the calibers to .30caliber and no steel core type of ammo. This will be a low key event, with RSO supervision. We may dedicate a date or two towards a long range clinic type of atmosphere. These will be announced on a case by case basis. There will always be RSOs and long range shooters who are more than capable of giving some pointers to any of those interested in starting up in the sport.
- Please show up by 7:30 AM. PVGC will provide the steel targets and you may bring paper targets to get sighted in at 100 yards. We will keep the line hot until the RSO determines it’s time to shut down, usually around 11:00 AM.
- If we get a large crowd the RSO may limit the number of shooters at any given time and we can all take turns at the positions with those not shooting, practicing your spotting or enjoying each other’s company.
- Recommend gear: rifle, ammo, spotting scope or binoculars, mat, and chair.
- Safety gear required: hearing and eye protection.
- Fees: $15 Club Member, $20 Non-member, $10 Junior(<18).
